Your Ego May Give You Away If You Don't Keep It Under Control
Do you let your ego get in the way of you living your life? Is it a friend or a foe? Or is it completely irrelevant? Does it give you the confidence to act? How much do you want to get your own way? Or are you relaxed and realistic in your approach? Do you take things personally when troubles loom, or do you take it on the chin, learn and move on? Do you feel your way is the only way? Even if others have valuable advise and experience that could help save time, effort and resources? Can you follow or do you always have to lead the way? Perhaps you are not so confident as you might appear. How well do you take criticism? Does it cause an argument or can you step back, reflect, and then admit - if required - that the other person has a point. And then learn from that? Do you have to do things yourself or can you seek help or do things with other people? Do you always have to take the glory yourself? Or are you happy to put your effort and share the spoils? Or will you point out what you have done, and that it is/was the most important element - and why cannot the others see that? Do you charge into ventures with little thought or planning? How do others feel about this? Is it very productive? Do you tend to slant things your way? Either by result or leaning towards ventures that you know you can do well, but others may not? Can you go beyond your comfort zone or do you hide and guard this well? Do you hide your weaknesses? Do you always like to be right? Can you do no wrong - in your eyes? Are you arrogant and unapproachable? Are you over confident in your abilities? It is yours and that is the only way? Where does pride fit in with things? Being self-centered, is that the right way to live life? Are you self seeking and ungenerous? Always thinking of yourself? Your ego. What does all this add up to do you think? Adopting even some of the above approaches - how good a leader do you think that would make? Would others follow you willingly? Would others be inspired by this approach and motivated to action? Or would a more conciliatory approach with respect and awareness work out better? Your ego. Sometimes we do have to look back at number one and make some hard choices. And make some necessary changes - if we are to enjoy our life and be respected for what we do and the person we are.
