What Is Impulsiveness But A Mixture Of Passion And Emotion?
What is impulsiveness? It can be the prerogative of those cannot sit on their hands for a few moments to consider. Who cannot be bothered to assess and examine before jumping into something. Who perhaps feel fine about tackling anything that might come alone to block their actions, rather than thinking and planning ahead to try to avoid these obstacles. Having a devil-may-care attitude may be fine when we are young. But later with the responsibilities of adulthood and one's family - is this the best way forward? And then our emotions come along and play. Where we were holding things off, keeping them at bay, we now get emotionally involved and everything changes. Irrationality abounds. Instincts become clouded. Quick decisions become rife. And we fall prey to things that otherwise we would avoid or be suspicious of. How easily this is done. But is this an excuse? Should we not be more alert, be more aware? And this may be part of the answer - or is it the answer? What is impulsiveness? Greater acceptance of ourselves and our powers of discrimination and knowledge of life and ourselves. The way we react. The way we act. The way we think. The way we are persuaded. Our perceptions need to be internal as well as external. We need not just be aware of external forces and influences but also gain a greater understanding of how we live and how we make decisions. How we tackle challenges and change. Yet are we not amazing creatures? Do we not all have the wherewithal to tackle these hurdles - in our stride? Occasionally with panache, sometimes with disdain. Mainly with thought and care we can negotiate the byways and avenues of life. And find our way through the small and the big decisions. Use wisdom, experience, assistance, knowledge, insights, instincts - to help us along our road. And often all in a blur. We could not explain it. We may not fully understand it. But we cope with it and prosper. We get by and we achieve. We need not leave things to the last moment. Neither need we make snap decisions - based upon little or nothing. We are the brains to succeed. The spirit to back this and the mind to project and visualize. The mind to tantalize but also to lead. The mind to assist and hinder. And our task is to amalgamate these forces of nature together. These forces within ourselves into a coherent whole. And this may take time. May be haphazard. One step forward and all of that good stuff. Just another of life's challenges facing us down. Are we ready to take up this gauntlet?
