Real Success Brings Appreciation Of Your Accomplishment
Success has a different meaning to each one of us. To one person achievement is making the right decision for then the triumph is assured. To another accomplishment is one thing but participation and sharing is the real goal. To others to succeed is to bring victory from the jaws of defeat. To others they crave the celebrity that fame might bring. To others contribution is accomplishment in itself, leaving the glory for others to chase. What is it for you? The important thing is for each of us to have our own understanding of what it means for us. If we view life and are trying to do our best on each occasion then good fortune in life can be ours. We may view prosperity in terms of celebrity, movie stars, famous authors or artists, but success need not be measured in those terms. For a child writing for the first time to be able to write their name is a triumph. For us this would be a very minor the achievement. For a child multiplying eight by four and getting the right answer would be a positive result. For us to do the same thing should be routine.
We would do well to view life in a simple and straightforward way and see success for what it is. If we are trying to achieve something and we do and that is winning, for us at that time at that place doing that activity. Obviously the bigger the project, or the more effort that we put in, or the more difficult the task than we can see that the accomplishment may well have greater meaning and purpose for us. What I'm trying to say is that we should not always look at the result but that the effort and a background behind the effort. In this way we can see that we are making progress and that is just as important as achieving any goal or dream. In life we need to feel good about ourselves and that we are progressing and improving and growing and developing. What is equally important is that we should not judge ourselves against others and, if you want to judge at all, we should be judging or comparing ourselves with our own previous performance. If we compare ourselves with what we've done before we can gauge how we are growing and developing in a real and personal sense. So if we are training to run a mile then is no good comparing ourselves with an Olympic champion who's times and achievements far outweigh our own. If we have a personal goal of beating say five minutes for the mile then we should compare our latest effort and training against the mark and not against the world record. When we're realistic and practical about achievement in our own life than we can see that life is real for us. And that we are making our effort to become the best that we can be. Then we are adopting a productive and satisfying attitude. This can bring freedom and greater understanding to the life we have. And can inspire us to greater efforts.
