Use Perseverance To Get Where You Need To Go To In Life

Perseverance is the solution to many a situation.

These 21st Century days of have it all now. Pay for it all now, but payback on the never never. This is a mindset hard to shake off.

So keeping going at the first signs of adversity become rarer. Sad is it not?

The ability to continue is inbred. We are built to work. To put effort in. We know when we are tired and in need of rest and refreshment. But we can keep going long after we have probably stopped off for a short break.

This we realize when we are tackling an activity we really love. Time flies. Much is accomplished. And seemingly in no time. In stark contrast to those times doing things that we dislike or see little purpose or meaning in.

When this is lacking things get difficult. A burden. Cumbersome.

Our resolve can be sorely tested

  • will we just be happy to throw in the towel?
  • will we falter as the going gets sticky or difficult?
  • will we hesitate if life questions our commitment and dedication?
  • will we find the inner resources to complete our task - or not?

and so the list may go on.

But how many times have we nearly got to our goal only for it to mysteriously seem to drift away from us. Yet we go on firm in the knowledge that it can be ours, with just a little more effort.

Many may be the setback between cup and lip but they need not stop us from achieving our aims.

Perseverance. The biggest hurdle is probably us, not the task itself. It is so easy to say

  • not today, I will put my effort in tomorrow, but I need to rest for now
  • not now, I am busy with all these really important other things, I will come back to it later (at some point or other)
  • not ever, I have had enough - that was not really for me (though I did think so at the time - just beyond me I suppose)

Many a reason may surface to explain our actions. They so easily roll off the tongue.

And in so doing seem to make perfect sense. And we give them extra substance by believing in them - and not ourselves.

If we are to achieve more and be more productive we need be mindful of not tricking ourselves out of success. And particularly when it is really so close at hand.
