Be Flexible And Adaptable And You Will Achieve Your Goals

Do you feel that you are flexible in your approach to life? Or is this something that you find difficult to achieve?

What does it mean to have flexibility in your life?

It means being able to change or decide to change if the need arises. It means to be elastic in your manner and approach to life and circumstances, and not being too rigid and unpliable in how you deal with things.

It means to be able to adjust to different conditions should the need arise. This means being able to adapt to changing circumstances or changing needs. Basically to have and exhibit a good attitude.

It means being able to bend or change or stretch yourself to meet what is required at any particular time. Being adaptable is certainly a great strength and ability. We need to encourage and support ourselves if we are have to live a productive life.

It means being able to make or be willing to make concessions. We should not always meet challenges or change with a ' I cannot do this', ' I will not do this' attitude. After all where would that approach take us - if anywhere. Being able to compromise is essential in life, because we will not always be able to have things our own way or achieve all the things that we would like.

But being flexible does not mean that we have to yield to all demands for our time or our efforts. At times we do need to question what has been asked of us and be able to say no, particularly if we do not feel this is for us or that is not the right thing to do.

The ability to say no is within us all but at times we have difficulty, or we may have difficulty saying this small word and meaning it. If we do we may not say no we may end up doing things that we do not want to do and regret that we could not initially say no.

Learning to say no is an art itself - but one that we need to learn if we are to get through life in a satisfactory manner.

Being compliant or accommodating is the way that many people handle life. This is fine but at times we do need to put number one, ourselves, at the top of our priority list. At times we do need to do things for ourselves. We should not feel bad or guilty about this.

In life there are many decisions to be made and we need to keep them to a manageable level and tackle them as well as we can. To tackle and handle the decision making process in a positive and clear way is essential.

We can maintain a gentle but responsive demeanor and still be flexible in our approach to life. To have a unyielding or rigid manner is, on the one hand difficult to maintain, and on the other hand may not be particularly productive. It can also be most annoying and detrimental in our relations with our friends and loved ones.

Adopting a flexible approach should not be seen as a weak stance. To be adaptable and accommodating to the needs of others and the situation should be seen as a strength and something to be encouraged.

If you are flexible not only with yourself but with others you will find that life rewards you for your efforts. Being flexible will be a decision you will not regret.
