Excellence Is Giving According To Worth - And Then Some

Excellence is giving of your best - irrelevant of situation or need for personal acclaim or reward.

Us human beings are not programmed as such having our own free will and ability to judge and decide things for ourselves. But inbred in us is the quality attribute.

This just means that we want to perform to our best. We like to do things well.

We have a need to do things efficiently. We want to do things effectively. We want our actions to succeed and accomplish the tasks we have set ourselves.

We want to feel worthy and how better than to give a little of ourselves in each venture and task we participate. For without that little extra factor life would still go on, but in a less giving and satisfying way.

We take an exam and have the chance for a merit or distinction status after it is assessed. In the same way, if we can tackle life with the same effort and energy in a meritorious and/or distinctive way - would not our effort be better received and more be achieved. And in so doing we need not apply ourselves for the reward we may receive, or the acclaim that might come our way, but rather because that is the way our life is.

We are happy to give and contribute. We are happy to work for the common good, because we are a part of that commonality. And it just feels good to work, to act, to give of ourselves and to give of our best efforts.

This, of course, may not always be possible. Illness, outside pressures, workload, responsibilities can hinder our efforts in different ways. And we may also be distracted by other concerns. Or be in need of rest and relaxation.

But if we can give of ourselves when we can, and go that little bit further, then we will be contributing in the best way that we can.

Excellence is giving - not all about acts and deeds, successes and achievements.

At times just being there for someone is equally important.

Listening to someone who needs to talk and get something off their chest. Helping someone in a small way. being thoughtful and caring. These are all parts of living a good and wholesome life.

And at times it is not doing something that makes the difference. Offering an alternative solution. Suggesting a different way of doing things. Doing something quietly and only letting it come into the public arena at a later time.

There are many that we can be effective and efficient, productive and caring, helpful and supporting.

Let us find our own way of handling life. This may be a small way we can make our mark and contribute.

And, like many other things, this stems from finding oneself and being yourself.

No secret formula. Pretty basic really.

Be yourself, be true to life and yourself and live your life. Know your own worth.

Excellence is giving. The opportunities and possibilities will be there for you if you wish to take them.
