Do You Sacrifice Anything In Finding Yourself In Life?

What do you sacrifice?

What do we really give up in life?

When and where? How and why?

  • We may abandon our objective.
  • We may relinquish our hold on the cup.
  • We may lose our way.
  • We may surrender our passport when asked.
  • We may let go (of trying to control everything)
  • We can do without that seemingly lost book.
  • We can renounce that old fashioned way of doing things.
  • We can forfeit our chance.
  • We can forego this opportunity.

And in return

  • we can offer up ourselves
  • we can give of our time
  • we can devote our efforts
  • we can come to an agreement
  • we can . . .

And

  • we can resign ourselves to this new way of thinking
  • we can reject the old for the new way
  • we can waiver our chance of being top dog
  • we can relinquish our hold on the trophy

So much we can do but will we?

Or are we lost in our own affairs and never look up and see how others are doing?

Or we never see the need to contribute - that is someone else's job is it not?

Or we think that all things will come to us - why have we need to give up anything?

Or we feel it is our right to the rewards or the price - irrelevant of how much effort or application we may have put in.

What do you sacrifice?

But in the real world

  • we need to be realistic about the things we do
  • there is only so much time to do things so something may have to give
  • to achieve our proudest moments we may have to give up 'X' or 'Y' - and do so willingly

Or if we are indeed fortunate and aware

  • we may have the chance to help others and in so doing sacrifice something of our own.
  • we may have to give of time and effort
  • we may have to give of money or resources

But we can do more even when we give of our selves

  • our care
  • our love
  • our respect
  • our talents
  • our values
  • our . . .

And when we do with innocent heart and mind, giving for giving's sake with no thought of reward, we may well experience a life changing moment.

But that is down to us being aware and alert, able to not just think of ourselves, and willing to be a good Samaritan in some way.

Let us find that way when the time comes.
