Consequences - We Make Decisions But The Repercussions Mould Our Lives

Consequences. Concerns. Considerations. Outcomes. Repercussions. We should be conscious of them all and how they can affect who we are and what we do. We must be aware of each of them and how they affect our decision making.

To be successful in our decision making we need to be wary of the after affects and the results of our labors. We should preempt the outcomes of our decisions with prior thought and planning. Then our concerns for the possible repercussions will be held in check, so long as we take full responsibility for our actions.

Man is absurd in what he seeks, great through what he finds. Paul Valery

The results

What can become of our decision making?

When we do things, and making decisions is not an exception, then we need to be aware of the waves we create. In the same way that throwing a pebble into a lake causes ripples, so do the decisions we make.

What you invent you do with love; what you have learnt you do with certainty. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

What can be the consequences?

What do we need to be aware of when making decisions?

  • Are we making a good account of ourselves?
  • What might be the after effects of our actions?
  • Will there be an aftermath?
  • Should I be concerned?
  • What effects might I begin with my action?
  • What issues need I be aware of?
  • Can I trust my perceptions?
  • Will the outcome be positive and productive?
  • Will there be a payback and, if so, when?
  • What are the repercussions?
  • Will the results be favorable?
  • Is what I am doing really worth it?
  • Do I care?
  • Is my attitude good and productive?
  • Should I care more?

Do we think we have life's number
are we awake or in the midst of slumber
perhaps we can see the light draw near
we really have nothing to worry about or fear

Do we think of the consequence
or are they something for avoidance
hopefully not something for vengeance
but could be acted out in silence
and it could be a real hindrance
and do we have the patience
or the conscience
and the licence
and in this instance
have we acted with brilliance
on a matter of substance
but not to give any grievance
we just want the act to have presence
but no indulgence
rounded off by the absence of any annoyance
