Conformity Can Be A Challenge And The Opposite Of Rebelling

Is conformity your thing? Do you follow or do you lead? Do you know? Do you care?

When you meet a challenge do you just comply? At times we have to. Other times we do our own thing. Other times we wish to rebel and be our own person.

Are you always in agreement with what is occurring in front of you? If not, what do you do? We cannot always agree with everything, nor should we. It would be unhealthy. We would not even be robotic in our living, we would uncaring and unfeeling.

What we need is a healthy balance. Balance is important in life. We talk about things in moderation being OK. If we 'moderate' our conformity then we will create that balance.

We should not be confrontational or disagreeable just for the sake of it. Even after a bad day we need to get out of this mode asap. It may appear strong and forceful but equally can be self destructive.

If someone suggests a cause of action what do you do? Consider it, ignore it, or do the other thing? We should be careful of what we do. Opposing the wrong and simple and straightforward things will not put us in a good light when something really should be questioned. A bit like the cry wolf scenario.

Do you like to rock the boat? Some do, most don't. Neither is correct particularly. It all depends . . . Remember, how you feel when your boat is rocked and give thought and care to how and what you do.

Do you follow like a sheep? At times we do, the easy way out. At times, we save energy for bigger decisions or 'fights'.

Do you play by the rules? Do you make up your own rules? A healthy balance and mixture would seem to be the order of the day.

Are you scientific or artistic or a pleasant mixture? Look to your strengths, develop your 'lesser' areas. Respect others for their talents. Appreciate life.

Other things we could think about:

  • Where does your allegiance lie? With number one or the greater good? Or somewhere in between?
  • Do you communicate and present your ideas to others or do you keep things to yourself?
  • Can you think outside the box?
  • Do you complain or just accept?
  • Where does free will fit in?
  • How much do you observe about how you act and others act? Are you a connoisseur of human nature?
  • Is conformity a challenge for you? Would you rather be doing your own thing?
  • Is it necessary to conform, or can you be a free bird?

We never thought there was so much (we could) to consider in this area.

How do we decide what to follow and what to veto?

We all conform, don't we? To a lesser or greater extent.

Without conformity and getting on with people how would the world, our world, exist? How would things evolve if we were continually at each others throats, disagreeing about the least little thing.

Getting on with others, and with ourselves, is one of the cornerstones of human life.

As with many things perhaps we just need to know, and life and experience must be our guide, when to make a stand.
