Adversity Can Either Make You Or Break You - Your Choice
Why does adversity grab us so? What is in the unknown, the adverse, that might not just grab our attention but divert us from our path and goals? Feeling under pressure has the knack of putting us on the spot. Of challenging us. Of providing hurdles and obstacles that we may feel are unwarranted. If we feel that we are being hounded unnecessarily we may lash out. This spontaneous but ill thought out action is not often a good and sound response. ... repent in leisure, springs to mind. We should look at the new situation - that which our adversity has caused. What has changed? Anything significant? Anything that would divert our energies or necessitate us to change our tack, direction or mind? We don't know without looking - and the new situation may either draw the best out of us or lead us towards new and improved opportunities. Accept and embrace them. How easy is it to embrace hardship when we uncertain or undecided as to how to proceed? Possibly very difficult. At times you will be tested - adversity has that way about it. The possible mixture of sorrow, misfortune or distress can leave us flat. Life seems to dealing us a poor hand. Hardship and mishap seems to be all around us. Is there no escape? But should we not give the new situation a chance? If we realize that life likes to test us at times, but at the same time gives us the wherewithal to meet and combat these challenges - life would be a much more satisfying and relaxing process. And we should remember that we need not be on our own. At times yes, but often others are involved, too. Why should we shoulder everything ourselves when we can seek the advice, assistance and support of friends, loved ones or colleagues? And a team effort may be what is required to surmount and overcome what lies ahead. And time, too. Time is not just a great healer, but also the passage of time can allow us to see our situation (our life) in a new light. And also allow yet more possibilities to not only arrive but to transcend and replace those very ones we have lost sleep over and thought would never be overcome. Keep faith with yourself and life and you can achieve far more than you can credit. Just give yourself the chance and see what life's good graces can present to you.
