Adversity Means That Our Defences Will Be Tested
Adversity means different things to different people. To some things seem to go along swimmingly all the time and nothing awry ever seems to happen. Then when it does how can they hope to cope with the changing and uncertain circumstances? Some people manage to take hardships in their stride and nothing seems to phase them. Are they routed in their being and down to earth that they are not easily knocked off course? Or is it just their way? Distress causes different reactions in different people. Some seem to thrive in this pressure cooker environment. Others quickly go under finding the heat of action all too much for them. Suffering, if involved, is not to many people's liking. A step too far? A trial or test may be involved, whether knowingly or not, but are we ready? Sorrow can strike at any time. It can be hard to prepare for other than being in a 'good space' within ourselves. And having the faith that we will be able to meet any challenges that life should feel fit to throw our way. Hard times help us to see the benefit and enjoyment of good times. Contrasts in life highlight differences just as much as they may challenge us when we feel least able to cope. Misery and misfortune may go hand in hand and can test us to the core. But it is how we tackle these episodes that can make us as people and forge our lives in a particular way. We have tough choices. We need to act firmly and maintain as much control and foresight as possible. Bad luck and mishap happen to us all. It is the measure of us as people in how we manage to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off - and continue on. The real failing is to quit. To stop. To go backwards. Adversity means different things to different people. When life is really asking us, as hard as it can be, to dig deep. Dig really deep and to find the strength and fortitude to continue. Because smoother and more positive times may just be around the corner. Have you identified with any of the above? Which have you had? What lessons do you need to learn and put into practice to improve your life? And do you have the confidence to do so? Adversity means different things to different people. We are all in the pits from time to time. They do not last forever. The sun shines and light (eventually) shines through to us. If you are down there pick something up. Learn a lesson. Learn a hard lesson. Find some wisdom. A little piece of knowledge. Store that away. it will inevitably come in handy at some later point - when you get an 'a ha' moment. And know that we all have these moments. You may well be able to help someone else through dint of your own experiences. Just do that when you can.
